Hana Buddeus studied Art History and French at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (MA) and Art Theory and History at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (Ph.D.). She has been working at the IAH CAS since 2016. She is currently a research fellow in the project The matrix of Photomechanical Reproductions: Histories of Remote Access to Art. From 2016 to 2020, she took part in the five-year Sudek Project focusing on Josef Sudek and his photographs of artworks (WEB). She edited Sudek and Scuplture (2020) and Instant Presence: Representing Art in Photography (ed. with Vojtěch Lahoda and Katarína Mašterová, 2017). In 2018 she received the Josef Krása Award for her dissertation published under the title Zobrazení bez reprodukce? Fotografie a performance v českém umění 70. let 20. století [Representation without Reproduction? Photography and Performance in Czech Art of the 1970s]. She participated in the international projects Confrontations: Sessions in East European History (Getty Connecting Art Histories, 2019–2022) and Resonances: Regional and Transregional Cultural Transfer in the Art of the 1970s (Visegrad Fund – Strategic Grants, 2021–2024). She served as a member of the Committee (2020–2023) and Vice-Chair of the Czech Association of Art Historians (2023–2026). As a curator, she occasionally focuses on contemporary art, she led the AMU Gallery in Prague (2013–2015), was a member of the Fotograf Gallery curatorial team (2021–2022), the editorial board of Fotograf magazine (2013–2022) and participated in the curatorial concept of several editions of the festival of the same name (2013–2015). As a guest curator at the Center for Contemporary Art Prague, she co-curated the four-part exhibition series Dialogues on Art Reproductions (2026) with Zbyněk Baladrán, Meghan Forbes, and Adéla Svobodová.
