Marie Platovská studied art history and ethnography at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (PhDr. 1981). Between 1979 and 1994, she worked as a specialized editor at the Odeon Press and from 1993 on she was employed at the National Museum and the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague. Between 1993 and 1996, she served as the executive editor of the journal Umění / Art. She has been a member of the Department of Topography at the IAH CAS since 1994, co-authoring Umělecké památky Prahy. Nové Město a Vyšehrad (II); Malá Strana (III); Velká Praha MŽ (all GAČR projects). Platovská is currently conducting research and writing texts for Umělecké památky Moravy a Slezska (GA ČR) and Proměna venkovské architektury s důrazem na vývoj v 19. a 20. století (NAKI).
