MgA. Jitka Walterová

Photographer

Since 1995, Jitka Walterová has been working as a photographer at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she joined after completing a two-year post-secondary program at the Prague School of Photography. From 1997 to 2002, she studied art photography at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). She creates professional photographic documentation of artworks in the fields of architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, and applied arts, covering both Czech and international art, for the institute’s research and academic activities.

Her interest in portrait photography is reflected in both her personal work and her professional practice, where she regularly photographs staff portraits. One of the main themes of her artistic work is the transformation of the human face, captured in long-term photographic series. Since 2010, she has been a co-founder and active member of the art collective Společenství spouště (The Shutter Society).
