Migration and Resilience in/through the Arts

We cordially invite you to the workshop and concert: “Migration and Resilience in/through the Arts”. The event will take place on Friday,14 November 2025 from 15:00 to 19:30 at the Musicological Library of the Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences (Puškinovo náměstí 9, 160 00 Prague 6) and online (ZOOM).

The interdisciplinary event “Migration and Resilience in/through the Arts” brings together scholars and artists to explore how processes of migration and cultural exchange shape artistic resilience and creative identity. The event consists of an English-language workshop and panel discussion followed by a concert titled “Jesení glas / Podzimní hlas.”

The discussion will focus on how the experience of migration is reflected in artistic practice, how art responds to the movement of people and cultures, and how it contributes to building societal resilience through shared aesthetic and cultural experiences.

The concert programme includes works by Antonín Dvořák, Clara Faisst, Jan Křtitel Václav Kalivoda, Bohuslav Martinů, Dora Pejačević, and Clara Schumann.

The event is organized by Anja Bunzel and Markéta Kratochvílová (Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences). It is financially supported by the Czech Academy of Sciences (Strategy AV21, programme „Resilient Society“).
