Postdoc for the grant project Concert Life in Prague 1918–1938: Musical Agents and Discourses in a Changing Metropolis.

Kateřina Nová studied cultural management at the Masaryk University in Brno and musicology at the Palacký University in Olomouc and Charles University in Prague, where she also received her doctor’s degree. In 2010–2022, she headed the Antonín Dvořák Museum (National Museum), and this composer naturally became the centre of her scientific activities. In addition, she focuses on the personalities of the composers Bohuslav Martinů, Viktor Kalabis, music critic Otakar Šourek, and musical culture of the 19th and 20th centuries. She is interested in the relationship between music and politics, music censorship, and the process of creation of so-called second lives of great personalities.

In addition to her role at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Kateřina Nová is also employed by the Bohuslav Martinů Institute and the Viktor Kalabis and Zuzana Růžičková Endowment Fund.
