We cordially invite you to the exhibition A Microhistory of Photography in the Window Gallery (Husova 4, Prague 1).
The exhibition takes place from 31 July to 23 November 2025.
Microscopic research of historical photographs has become the domain of photo conservators, whether in determining the material composition or investigating the nature and extent of individual damages. Historians and theorists of photography, on the other hand, reach for a magnifying glass or microscope much less often and inevitably miss many seemingly insignificant details. Using the example of several photographs and photomechanical prints from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the exhibition and the catalogue show what can be revealed – imperceptible to the naked eye – with the help of magnifying glasses and high-resolution image sensors.
The exhibition was prepared by Petra Trnková and Natálie Trtíková.
